As with everything in life, you get what you pay for.

A general rule of thumb for the caliber of musicians I hire is $125 - $175 per person.  It could be a little less or a little more per person, depending on a number of factors, including:

The length of the event

The distance the musicians must travel

Why so expensive?  Many reasons...

For my colleagues and me, music is not a hobby.  It is our profession. We have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars on our musical education, both private instruction and college level training. Our instruments also are very costly (the average professional player's violin & bow costs about as much as a new car!).

We also have spent lots of time, money and energy collecting and organizing the sheet music we play from (I have a vast library that I draw from for each event.).  Each event takes hours to organize.
It also takes money to promote oneself (this website, for instance!).

Finally, we have to dress the part and own reliable transportation to get us to each event.  So please understand that we are not trying to rip you off.  We simply cannot play for $25 apiece, or worse yet, for free food & beer!  Thank you for understanding.
